Permanently cover rectangular areas of a PDF by rebuilding the affected pages as images, so the hidden content is not retained as selectable text underneath. Each rule specifies a page and a rectangle in percentages, and the pages are rasterised at a JPEG quality you set.

Accuracy, limits, and good practice
- Drawing a black rectangle in an editor is not redaction — the text stays underneath and can be copied out. Rebuilding the page as an image is what actually removes it.
- Always verify: open the output and search for a word you redacted. Finding nothing is the confirmation you need before releasing it.
- Coordinates start at the top-left corner and are percentages of the page, so the same rule lands correctly regardless of page size.
Frequently asked questions
Why is drawing a black box not enough?
It draws over the content without removing it. The text remains in the file and can be selected, copied or extracted.
Does the page stay searchable?
No. Redacted pages become images, so their text is no longer selectable — that is precisely the mechanism protecting the content.
How do I check the redaction worked?
Search the output for the redacted text and try the PDF text extractor on it. Neither should find anything.
