- Form fields are technically annotations too — if a form loses its fields, flatten it deliberately instead.
- Export the comments first if they are the record of a review — once removed, the reasoning behind each edit is gone with them.

Are highlights removed as well?
Yes, highlights are annotations. The text beneath them is untouched and remains fully readable.
Will links stop working?
Link annotations are removed, so clickable regions disappear. The visible text of a URL remains on the page.
Does the file get smaller?
Usually a little, since annotation objects and their authors' metadata are dropped along with the markup.
