Image Filters — what it does

Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation and grayscale on an image with live sliders, then download the result. These four controls cover the majority of everyday corrections: rescuing an underexposed photo, giving a flat screenshot some definition, or converting an image to clean black and white.

When this tool helps

  • Brightening a photo that came out too dark without opening an editor.
  • Adding contrast to a washed-out screenshot before putting it in a document.
  • Converting an image to grayscale for a print-friendly or monochrome layout.

How to use it

  1. Choose the image.
  2. Adjust brightness and contrast.
  3. Adjust saturation, or push grayscale for monochrome.
  4. Download the filtered image.

Accuracy, limits, and good practice

  • Correct brightness before contrast: raising contrast on a dark image deepens the shadows into solid black and the detail is gone for good.
  • Small moves are almost always enough. Heavy saturation looks striking on screen and garish everywhere else.
  • Full grayscale plus a contrast lift is the usual recipe for a photo that has to read well in black and white print.
  • Judge the result at the size it will be displayed. Adjustments that look right at full zoom often look flat in a thumbnail.

Frequently asked questions

Can I undo a filter after downloading?

Not from the output. Adjustments are baked into the exported file, so keep the original for further edits.

Why does the image look posterised?

Extreme contrast or brightness collapses tonal steps into bands. Ease the sliders back until gradients look smooth again.

Is quality lost?

Adjustment itself is a pixel operation; the loss comes from re-encoding, so export at high quality if the image will be edited further.

Can I apply the same settings to several images?

Not in one pass here. Note the values and repeat them, or use the batch tools where the operation is supported across files.
