Accuracy, limits, and good practice
- Short search terms match inside longer words — replacing 'art' rewrites 'start' and 'partner' unless you include surrounding spaces.
- Case-sensitive matching protects proper nouns and acronyms; leave it off when the text mixes capitalisation inconsistently.
- Work on a copy of important text. Replacement is applied to everything at once and there is no per-occurrence confirmation.
- Search for the replacement text afterwards to confirm the count you expected: a replacement that hit twice as many places as intended looks fine until someone reads it.

Can I use regular expressions?
This tool matches literal text. For patterns, wildcards and capture groups, use the regex tester to build and verify an expression first.
How do I delete a phrase?
Leave the replacement field empty; every occurrence is removed and the surrounding text closes up.
Does it work on very long documents?
Yes. Processing is local and handles long texts quickly, limited only by browser memory.
Can I replace across line breaks?
Matching works on the text as pasted, so a phrase split across two lines will not match a single-line search term.
